C.A. Jones is seeking Pipe Welders for openings in Pascagoula, MS.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Pipe Welder must possess knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to cut, weld, and perform other hot work on piping as required. The pipe welder may be required to pass appropriate certification tests. The following is a list of typical work that a Pipe Welder might be asked to perform:
Lay out work to be performed from written and oral instructions. Select most effective welding sequence.
Perform or directs all necessary actions to ensure proper and adequate weldments are created in accordance with industry and/or Navy standards, the higher standard will be met.
Create weldments, utilizing a variety of procedures, which must pass visual (VT), magnetic particle (MT), liquid penetrant (LPT), and/or radiographic inspections (RT), as appropriate.
Coordinates and arranges for the work of several trades in connection with performing work from information received from technical work documents, blueprints, specifications, written and/or oral instructions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a minimum of 3 or more years of experience as a pipe welder.
Must have GTAW ( TIG ) and SMAW ( STICK ) experience
Able to pass military standard X-Ray welding test on stainless steel and copper nickel in the 6G position (restricted).
The pipe welding test is given in a restricted position (6 G) on a 5'' schedule 80 carbon steel pipe.
The GTAW (Tig) process is used to weld the root pass and an 11018 electrode is uses to weld the fill portion and cap. This is for x-ray quality.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in trade.
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background investigation.
Must have dependable transportation.
Must be able to follow instructions.
Must be able to gain access to all work locations, including government and private shipyards and/or vessels.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Primarily involves standing and walking, performed on a frequent to constant basis.
Requires manual dexterity.
Bending, squatting, pulling/pushing, reaching and handling are required on a frequent basis.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., work aboard marine vessels, climb ladders, work in tanks and confined spaces, and wear required personal protective equipment.
