RESPONSIBILITIES
Position Summary
The Pipewelding Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating all pipewelding activities and schedules and provides leadership, direction, and technical oversight to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality completion of both new construction and repair projects. The successful candidate will support operations in fabrication shops and on the waterfront, promoting productivity, safety, and excellence across the department.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and direct pipewelding activities for new construction and repair projects.
Train, mentor, and instruct employees on efficient welding methods and best practices.
Monitor performance by entering time, enforcing policies, and conducting appraisals.
Act as a resource to crews, leaders, boat representatives, and senior leadership.
Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings to determine materials and task sequences.
Inspect work progress, equipment, and worksites to verify compliance with specifications.
Collaborate with purchasing to order welding materials, parts, and consumables.
Establish and manage project budgets, ensuring cost efficiency.
Attend meetings to identify conflicts, propose solutions, and coordinate schedules.
Promote a professional and positive company image with staff and customers.
Conduct tests and inspections to evaluate weld quality, processes, and product performance.
Examine workpieces for defects and ensure conformance with engineering standards.
Maintain commitment to Quality and Environmental, Health & Safety (QEHS) policies.
Uphold compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervise 10-20 employees in the pipewelding department.
Interview, hire, and train employees.
Plan, assign, and review work activities.
Conduct performance evaluations, reward strong performance, and administer discipline when necessary.
Resolve employee issues and foster a collaborative, productive work environment.

DESIRED
Prior shipyard or heavy manufacturing experience.
3+ years of supervisory experience or equivalent education.
Welding certification(s) or journeyman-level training.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Time & Attendance systems.
Strong knowledge of ABS, USCG, and other relevant standards.
Ability to work in high-energy environments on the waterfront.
